The Selbyville community is mourning the tragic loss of Rob Riden, a 56-year-old man from Frankford who died following a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning in Sussex County.

According to the Delaware State Police, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. on May 20, 2026, along Lighthouse Road near Fenwick Shoals Boulevard.

Investigators say Riden was operating a Harley-Davidson Road King eastbound on Lighthouse Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Authorities stated the motorcycle then struck a roadside safety barrier, causing Riden to be ejected from the bike.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Riden was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. Police also confirmed he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The roadway remained impacted for a period of time while troopers conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
