The Medina County community is mourning the loss of James Hennis following a fatal single-motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning in Liverpool Township.
According to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 1:31 a.m. to a crash on State Route 252, also known as Columbia Road, near Boston Road.
Investigators said the crash involved a 1995 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 41-year-old James Hennis. Preliminary findings indicate Hennis was traveling southbound when the motorcycle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree stump, and overturned into a wooded area.
Emergency responders from Valley City Fire and EMS transported Hennis to Cleveland Clinic Brunswick Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Authorities stated that alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office and the Medina County Coroner’s Office pending further review and toxicology results.
