GENESEE TWP., Mich. — A tragic early-morning crash on East Carpenter Road in Genesee Township has left a 25-year-old woman dead and an infant hospitalized.

Crash Details

  • Location: East Carpenter Road, between North Center Road and North Genesee Road
  • Vehicle: Single-car crash involving the vehicle driven by Jettiona Coleman, 25

According to the Genesee Township Police Department, the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, and caught fire. Bystanders reportedly stopped to assist at the scene. Despite their efforts, Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Lt. Matthew Allen of the Genesee Township Police Department indicated that intoxicants may have been a contributing factor, though toxicology results and further investigation are pending.

Detectives are asking anyone who stopped to help at the scene and has not yet spoken with police to contact the department at 810-640-2000.
