A fatal crash in Greenup County is under investigation after a two-vehicle collision Wednesday night claimed the life of Abigail Miller, a 21-year-old woman from Vanceburg.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 14, the crash occurred around 9:25 p.m. on May 20, 2026, near the intersection of Industrial Parkway and County Road 1630.
Preliminary investigators say Miller was operating a vehicle that crossed left of center before colliding head-on with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Authorities stated that she was pronounced dead at the scene by the Greenup County Coroner’s Office.
The two individuals traveling in the second vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Officials have not yet publicly released information regarding their conditions.
Investigators continue working to determine what caused Miller’s vehicle to enter the opposing lane of traffic. Authorities said it remains unclear whether factors such as speed, distraction, impairment, roadway conditions, or mechanical issues contributed to the collision.
Emergency responders temporarily closed portions of the roadway while crews assisted victims and investigators documented the crash scene. Traffic was later restored after authorities completed their initial on-scene investigation.
Kentucky State Police Post 14 continues leading the inquiry and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who possesses additional information to contact investigators.
The tragic loss of a young life has left family members, friends, and members of the surrounding community grieving as authorities continue searching for answers about the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
