Troopers reported that the MINI Cooper was traveling southbound, while the Nissan SUV and Lexus SUV were headed north. According to investigators:
- The Nissan SUV changed lanes and collided with the Lexus SUV.
- The Nissan SUV then ran off the road and overturned.
- The Lexus SUV crossed the centerline and struck the MINI Cooper.
