HUNTINGDON, Pa. — A tragic motorcycle crash in Huntingdon has claimed the life of 23-year-old Abigail Henney, who died Monday after suffering critical injuries in a violent collision over the weekend.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees confirmed that Henney died while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Conemaugh Hospital. Officials said she sustained a traumatic brain injury in the crash, which occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to investigators, the collision happened around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Penn Street and 7th Street in Huntingdon Borough. Authorities reported that Henney was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle that was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with the side of a BMW.
The impact reportedly ejected Henney from the motorcycle, causing severe injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported both Henney and the motorcycle operator by medical helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Henney succumbed to her injuries two days later. Officials said the motorcycle operator remains hospitalized in intensive care.
Authorities confirmed that Henney was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether charges may be filed.
Her death has left family members, friends, and the Huntingdon community mourning the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
