The community of Wellington is mourning the loss of Nikora Tamati Williams, who passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, leaving family, friends, and loved ones grieving the loss of a deeply cherished young man.

Nikora is being remembered by whānau as a devoted father, loving partner, treasured mokopuna, and loyal friend whose vibrant personality and warmth touched everyone around him. Loved ones described him as someone with a “beautiful smile, big personality, and cheeky laugh,” whose presence brought energy, laughter, and comfort wherever he went.

He was the beloved partner of Passion and a devoted father to his daughter, Wairere, whom family members say meant everything to him. Tributes shared by relatives and friends reflect the deep love Nikora had for his whānau and the strong connections he maintained throughout his life.

Nikora was also remembered proudly as an uri of Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi, and Te Arawa. His passing is being mourned across whānau networks and the wider community as loved ones gather to honor his life and legacy.

According to arrangements shared by Tipene Funerals, Nikora will lie at 33 Tyndall Street in Waiwhetū, where whānau and friends are invited to pay their respects during scheduled visiting times. An evening karakia and poroporoaki will also be held in his honor.

A funeral service celebrating Nikora’s life is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, at Tipene Funeral Home on Kenepuru Drive in Porirua, followed by a private cremation service for immediate whānau.

Loved ones have respectfully requested that visitors honor tikanga observed by the family during this difficult time, including refraining from touching Nikora’s face as they preserve his “handsome smile.”
